What I Did This Week
- Trying to get to 50,000 total words on my novel tonight. That's a formidable goal, as I am 2,600 words away. #
- Looks like the NaNoWriMo site is down, but I'm pretty happy with today's progress. I'm up to 6,350 words. #nanowrimocheaters #
- Reading older fantasy writers is eye-opening. The amount of pure narration is mind-boggling. Who modernized fantasy? I need to find out. #
- Am depressed about the state of American reading as I saw the overwhelmingly positive Amazon reviews for Unlundun, which is awful. #
- Hrm. Gene Wolfe has a narrative style, too. What is George R.R. Martin like? Maybe the breezy style of Rowling is the exception. #
- I see why George RR Martin writes 1200 page epics–his prose is fluid and detailed but not narrative. So he needs a LOT of space to operate. #
- Critiquing rather than writing, but I'm okay with that. #
- Tough travel next week. Dallas to NYC on Sunday/Monday and then Dallas to LA on Tue.-Thur. At least I get to sleep in my bed Mon. night #
- Dinner at Benihana with the family. Awesome. #
- Running around doing Saturday morning errands. #
- Saw Up for the first time last night. Loved it. I cried like a baby over the opening montage. #
- Went to bed at 10:30 PM and just woke up at 9AM. Goodbye sleep deficit! #
- Lunch at Maggiano's with the family. We're not an "eat at home" bunch. #
- Willow hated Where The Wild Things Are. We left halfway through the movie. #
- Off to the airport. Manhattan here I come. #
